The Third ESSLLI Student Session
August 17-28, 1998
as part of ESSLLI'98 in
Saarbrücken, Germany
The Student Session of the 10th European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information (ESSLLI'98) organized by DFKI and the University of Saarbruecken, is the third ESSLLI Student Session. Like the preceding ones, it is aimed to provide an opportunity for ESSLLI participants who are students to present their own work and get valuable feedback from other researchers and fellow-students.
The ESSLLI'98 Student Session has its own timeslot in the ESSLLI'98 schedule: 60 minutes every day for two weeks. Each presentation takes 30 minutes (including 10 minutes of discussion). The presentations fall into the following areas: Logic, Linguistics, Computation, Logic & Linguistics, Logic & Computation, and Linguistics & Computation. In addition, the authors will have the possibility to present posters.
The process of submission, reviewing and selecting papers has been completed. There was a tough competition. Out of the 52 received submissions, the programme committee decided to accept 18 for presentation and 5 as a reserve. See the list of the accepted papers.
The numbers of accepted and received submissions in the 6 sections of the Student Session were as follows:
Computation Section: 1 out of 4
Language Section: 2 (plus 2 reserve) out of
13
Logic Section: 1 out of 3
Language & Computation Section: 8 (plus
one reserve) out of 17
Logic & Computation Section: 4 (plus one
reserve) out of 9
Logic & Language Section: 2 (plus one
reserve) out of 5
A preliminary schedule is now available.
The reserve papers will be presented as posters during ESSLLI'98. Also the authors of accepted papers may use the opportunity to present a poster. So, all ESSLLI'98 participants are welcome to drop by!
The papers accepted for presentation plus additional papers accepted as a reserve are being published in the ESSLLI'98 Student Session proceedings. The Proceedings will be available on a CD-ROM with the ESSLLI'98 readers, and in printed form.
For each section, the programme committee consists of
a "student co-chair" (SC) and a "senior reviewer"
(SR).
Furthermore, there was a number of additional reviewers, whom the programme
committee would like to thank for their work.
